My "New" Kitchen - The Big Reveal

Cabinet painting is DONE! I really do feel like I have a brand new kitchen. It's so much brighter and fresher. And cleaner - wow, those wood cabinets can hide some grime!

So here's what it looked like before:

And now:

It was a lot of work but I think the end result was worth it. You can see my basic cabinet painting tutorial here.

And I do still have this little area to take care of:

It's our breakfast bar area and I didn't just want to paint it white because I'm pretty sure with little kids sitting there it would end up nicked, scuffed, and very dirty. I have something a little different and (hopefully) very cool planned but I need my personal handyman (my dad) to come help me with it next weekend. So stay tuned.

  4. hey... i likeeee. I painted our kitchen cabinets, too. Deciding to paint it was not an issue for me, it was for my husband who thought i was nuts to paint oak. He likes it now coz it made the kitchen look less depressing.

  21. Wow! I’m just amazed with how beautiful your new kitchen looks now. It is true that the white color made your kitchen look and feel cleaner. The white paint complements the blue wall and table tops. It looks like a cloud in the sky! Hope you’ll find a good color for the breakfast bar area!

  22. I agree with you: the kitchen does look brighter, fresher, and cleaner with the new paint job. It is good that you chose the color white for the cabinet. It is vivid, allowing it to complement any color. So even if you change your fixture, the white can still complement the new fixture color.
