30 Days For 30 Dollars - Day 6 - Jazzed Up Thrift Store Earrings

Wondering what 30 Days for 30 Dollars is?? Read all about it here.

I picked up these earrings the other day at the thrift store for 50 cents. They're not too bad to begin with but I wasn't loving the little monkey/lion head in the center.

So, good-bye monkey head:

To make my "jazzed up" earrings, first I flattened them out a little with a hammer so my gems would adhere and lay flat. I used E6000 glue to adhere the gems, which I found in my jewelry stash (zero $).

Then I pounded 2 little holes in the bottom, using a tapestry needle and a hammer. I attached 2 tiny green beads (also from my stash) to headpins and linked them through the holes.

ready to be attached

I use this tool for rounding and trimming my headpins. It's a handy little gadget.

Total spent:
Day 1: $1.00 Recipe Card Box
Day 2: Free Recipe Card Holder
Day 3: $2.00 Hot Pads
Day 4: $1.00 An Artsy Bangle
Day 5: $1.00 Embellished Pillowcases
Day 6: $.50 Earrings
___________
Total: $5.50
